The body of 17-year-old Nigerian girl, Omotayo Adeoye, resident in New York, United States, who killed herself about one week ago after she was openly scolded by her teacher for cheating in an examination has been found.

Unable to comprehend and handle the shame and embarrassment caused by the development, Adeoye, a student of High School of Math, Science and Engineering in Manhattan, one of New York’s posh academic institutions, decided to jump into a river than face humiliation.

Remains of Adeoye were recovered out of the Hudson River at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday [June 3] between West 170th and 175th streets, law enforcement sources said.

Omotayo Adeoye  of The Bronx was seen jumping into the Hudson on Thursday after writing a suicide note on her German-language exam: “I just want to go away forever on the bottom of the river.”

“It looks like they found the 17-year-old jumper in the river”, a law enforcement source told The Post.

The promising 12th-grader, Adeoye was caught looking at her cellphone during a German test at Harlem HS for Math, Science and Engineering. Teacher Eva Malikova caught Adeoye cheating and read her the riot act in front of other students, witnesses and cops said.

“She snatched it away from her and started screaming at her, ‘Oh, you shouldn’t be cheating! You guys shouldn’t be cheating! You guys are lying to yourselves!’” a male classmate said.

The girl burst into tears, sobbing, “I’m sorry! I’m sorry!”

She asked to use the bathroom and then never returned, walking from the West 140th Street school to the Hudson River’s edge at West 165th Street. Fishermen watched helplessly as the distraught student — who couldn’t swim — placed her ID on a rock and then jumped into the water.
