Nigeria’s foremost business tycoon and philanthropist, Chief Molade Alexandria Okoya-Thomas is dead. News of the billionaire’s demise filtered through social media Monday [Feb 2] afternoon, though the family is yet to issue an official statement on the death of the business icon.
Reputable journalist and Publisher of Ovation Magazine, Chief Dele Momodu created a media buzz on the death of the famed businessman on Twitter at 01:21 GMT in these words:
“I’ve just received the sad news of the death of business Titan & sports enthusiast CHIEF MOLADE OKOYA-THOMAS; may his soul Rest in Peace.”
A trained account by profession, Chief Okoya-Thomas has been Chairman of CFAO Nigeria Limited and other notable business organisations. Late Chief Okoya-Thomas was until his death, the Chancellor of Lagos State University.

A sports enthusiast and former President of the Lagos Tennis Club, Chief Okoya-Thomas remained sole sponsor of the annual Asoju Oba Table Tennis Championships for more than four decades.
He was 79 years old.
