Watch how President Obama shut down a disrespectful guest at Wednesday night's LGBT Pride reception at the White House....
While President Obama was speaking to guests at a White House reception in celebration of LGBT pride month, a heckler -- now identified as Jennicet Gutiérrez, a founding member of the LGBTQ Latina advocacy group Familia TQLM -- interrupted Obama's speech and incessantly shouted claims about bad detention conditions for LGBTQ immigrants in the United States.
Gutiérrez, who ABC News reports is transgender, undocumented and clearly passionate about the immigration issue, would not adhere to the President's numerous requests to stop interrupting him.
Obama quipped (in between interruptions from the woman), "Listen, you're in my house....No, no, it's not respectful when you get invited to somebody's.....You're not going to get a good response by interrupting me like this."
There's a time, a place, and a way to voice your opinions....and President Obama put his foot down to tell her this occasion wasn't any of those three. He also pointed out that when you drink and eat a host's food and wine, you listen to what the host has to say.
ABC News reports:
Persisting still to heckle the president, Obama then said "shame on you" and gestured to a security official, asking "can we escort this person out?""You can either stay and be quiet or we'll have to take you out," Obama then said, apparently giving the heckler one more chance.
Watch it all go down in the video below:
