The Police in Lagos have arrested a man, Raphael Effiong (28), who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death during a fracas in a hotel located in Alapere, Ketu area of Lagos on Tuesday [July 29].
But the deceased’s family alleged that the lover boy lured her to the hotel and attempted to chop off her breasts and fingers, apparently for ritual purpose.

Yinka Offehin, 35, is battling for his life at a private hospital in Lagos State after his scrotum was cut by the children of his landlady. The Edo State indigene, who resides on Popoola Street, off Abaranje Road, Ikotun, Lagos, was said to have been attacked while sleeping in his room with his family members.

Tragedy struck yesterday [July 28] in Benin City. It was an avoidable mishap. A young man, simply identified as Frederick, 20, was stabbed and bled to death in the ancient city.
An eyewitness told THISDAY that trouble began when Frederick went to his debtor-friend, Oruma, to ask for the payment of his N2,000 which the latter had borrowed from him some time ago. But either Oruma did not want to pay or he did not have the money to pay. Either way, altercation ensued, especially as Frederick insisted on leaving with a prized possession of Oruma as a lien.

The Police Special Fraud Unit, PSFU, has smashed a syndicate which speclialises in designing multinational organisations’ websites to defraud unsuspecting members of the public, particularly job applicants.
Six members were arrested; among them are a first class honours graduate and two final year students of the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA. The suspects’ modus oparadi, according to the unit, include using logos of multinational companies to place online advertisements for jobs and scholarships and demanding application fee from interested individuals.
