The couple, together for more than 50 years, married in Pennsylvania on Sunday, Yahoo News reports. Prior to the ceremony, the men told Patch.com they were "ecstatic beyond belief." Novak adopted MacArthur in 2000 after the pair moved from New York to Pennsylvania and realized their legal partnership wouldn't be recognized. "The only legal avenue we had in order to be afforded any rights was adoption," MacArthur says. The "creative" strategy is "entirely understandable," a lawyer says. "It reflects people's deep need to protect each other as family."

A Federal High Court in Lagos has dismissed  a suit filed by some  subscribers challenging the recent 20 per cent increment on subscription rate of Digital Satellite Television (DStv) being operated by Multi-Choice Nigeria Limited.

The subscribers, Osasuyi Adebayo and Oluyinka Oyeniji, had sought an order of the court restraining Multi-Choice from implementing the 20 per cent increment on DStv subscription rate which commenced on April 1, 2015.

Detectives from Ondo State Police Command have arrested four students of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, for allegedly gang-raping a female student of the institution.

According to Vanguard the victim is a girlfriend of one of the suspects.

The suspects, according to a police source, are students in the Department of Business Education in the institution. Police source said the victim, who is currently on admission in a private hospital, was raped at a residence in Oka area of the town until she became unconscious.

State authorities in Adamawa and Borno have rejected reports that pregnant women and girls rescued from Sambisa forest and staying in various camps for displaced persons are being pressured to undergo abortions.

The Yola Electricity Distribution Company has disconnected power supply to the Taraba State Government House over N74 million unpaid electricity bills, Daily Trust learnt yesterday.

The power cut, it was learnt, followed the inability of the state government to offset its five months outstanding bills covering January to May 2015. The electricity company had on April 16 written a letter to the state acting governor asking for payment of the outstanding bill to avoid disconnection.

A 28-year-old housekeeper, Hope Hazhi, was on Wednesday brought before a Tinubu Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing her employer’s jewellery worth N15 million.

Boko Haram Killed 43 Persons In Borno

Not less than 43 persons were at the weekend killed in an attack on Gubio, a community in Borno State by Boko Haram insurgents, a security source and residents have said.

A member of youth vigilante group in Gubio, Abba Idris, told THISDAY that a group of militant Boko Haram rode to Gubio, located north of Borno, in about six hilux vehicles on Saturday and set houses ablaze. He said the town was left pregnable as there was barely any cover from the Nigerian military which was involved in operations in another parts of the state carrying.

TRAGEDY!!! Female Youth Corps Member Found Dead In Ilorin

Tragedy struck in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, when a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), serving in the state, Miss Yetunde Shukurat Idowu, was found dead.

Her corpse was found on the streets, Sunday night.

According to Vanguard, she was last seen at a popular shopping mall, Shoprite, located along Fate road, where she had gone shopping. When she did not returned home, the fateful day, her roommate and other neighbours went in search of her.

Yetundes corpse was later found in a street at Government Reservation Area, GRA.
The deceased, an indigene of Ogun state was a member of the 2014 NYSC Batch B set.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the death of the corps member, telling Vanguard the matter is under investigation.



Nigerian Army Sacks 1,000 Soldiers For Disobeying Orders During Onslaughts Against Boko Haram

One thousand soldiers were yesterday [May 25] dismissed by the Nigerian Army authorities for allegedly disobeying orders during onslaughts against Boko Haram militants in the North-East, Daily Trust gathered yesterday.

It was gathered that the soldiers were dismissed in Kaduna, Niger, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa and Sokoto States. They were among the 4,500 soldiers pencilled down by the authorities following the hiccup in the army last year in operations against the militants.
