Man Beaten To Death For Alleged Kidnapping In Kaduna State Resurrects In Morgue

According to Daily Trust, a middle-aged man beaten to death for allegedly kidnapping children in Zonkwa, Kaduna state has resurrected in a morgue.  A police source said police made an attempt to rescue the man from a mob in a marketplace but they were overpowered. The officer said the claim that the man had abducted children hasn’t been established and no missing child was reported in the area.

In the process, Shekau declared himself the “Amir of Gwoza.’’  Recounting her ordeal to Daily Trust on Sunday, one of the victims of that attack, Balaraba Aliyu Abacha, described how the group invaded her matrimonial home (a big compound with modern facilities) and forced the occupants to leave, saying the new “Amir’’ would soon occupy the house, from where he would administer the town. They told Balaraba that the “Amir” would take over her room; hence she should not bother to return to the house, warning that whoever misbehaved would be dealt with and taken to the dreaded Sambisa Forest, otherwise called the Reserve by the sect.

The couple, together for more than 50 years, married in Pennsylvania on Sunday, Yahoo News reports. Prior to the ceremony, the men told Patch.com they were "ecstatic beyond belief." Novak adopted MacArthur in 2000 after the pair moved from New York to Pennsylvania and realized their legal partnership wouldn't be recognized. "The only legal avenue we had in order to be afforded any rights was adoption," MacArthur says. The "creative" strategy is "entirely understandable," a lawyer says. "It reflects people's deep need to protect each other as family."

A Federal High Court in Lagos has dismissed  a suit filed by some  subscribers challenging the recent 20 per cent increment on subscription rate of Digital Satellite Television (DStv) being operated by Multi-Choice Nigeria Limited.

The subscribers, Osasuyi Adebayo and Oluyinka Oyeniji, had sought an order of the court restraining Multi-Choice from implementing the 20 per cent increment on DStv subscription rate which commenced on April 1, 2015.

Adeyemi College Student Gang-Raped By Boyfriend and 3 Others; Until She Became Unconscious

Detectives from Ondo State Police Command have arrested four students of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, for allegedly gang-raping a female student of the institution.

According to Vanguard the victim is a girlfriend of one of the suspects.

The suspects, according to a police source, are students in the Department of Business Education in the institution. Police source said the victim, who is currently on admission in a private hospital, was raped at a residence in Oka area of the town until she became unconscious.

Disco Disconnects Taraba Govt House Over N74m Bills

The Yola Electricity Distribution Company has disconnected power supply to the Taraba State Government House over N74 million unpaid electricity bills, Daily Trust learnt yesterday.

The power cut, it was learnt, followed the inability of the state government to offset its five months outstanding bills covering January to May 2015. The electricity company had on April 16 written a letter to the state acting governor asking for payment of the outstanding bill to avoid disconnection.

A man, Friday Eniba, is on the wanted list of the Ondo State Police Command following the alleged killing of his friend, Seun Ajalami in Iwaro Oka-Akoko in the Akoko South West Local Government Area of the state.

Housekeeper Arraigned For Stealing Her Employer’s Jewellery Worth N15 Million

A 28-year-old housekeeper, Hope Hazhi, was on Wednesday brought before a Tinubu Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing her employer’s jewellery worth N15 million.

Hazhi, who gave her residential address as Akpako House, Ipare area of Lekki, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

A probe centred only on the Jonathan administration will amount to a “witch hunt”, the president said Wednesday at a valedictory cabinet meeting attended by ministers ahead of his handing over to Mr. Buhari on Friday. Boko Haram Killed 43 Persons In Borno

Not less than 43 persons were at the weekend killed in an attack on Gubio, a community in Borno State by Boko Haram insurgents, a security source and residents have said.

A member of youth vigilante group in Gubio, Abba Idris, told THISDAY that a group of militant Boko Haram rode to Gubio, located north of Borno, in about six hilux vehicles on Saturday and set houses ablaze. He said the town was left pregnable as there was barely any cover from the Nigerian military which was involved in operations in another parts of the state carrying.

Angelica Kenova, a 26-year-old model from Moscow, Russia, still lives with her hyper-controlling parents, who have been honing her drastic look all her life - dictating her diet and exercise programme so she can maintain her miniature six-stone frame. 'Growing up, my parents raised me like a princess and never let me go out, date boys or have the usual adult experiences,' Angelica says. 'As a result, I am not fit for real life - I'm like a living doll.'

TRAGEDY!!! Female Youth Corps Member Found Dead In Ilorin

Tragedy struck in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, when a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), serving in the state, Miss Yetunde Shukurat Idowu, was found dead.

Her corpse was found on the streets, Sunday night.

According to Vanguard, she was last seen at a popular shopping mall, Shoprite, located along Fate road, where she had gone shopping. When she did not returned home, the fateful day, her roommate and other ‎neighbours went in search of her.

Yetunde’s corpse was later found in a street at Government Reservation Area, GRA.
The deceased, an indigene of Ogun state was a member of the 2014 NYSC Batch B set.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the death of the corps member, telling Vanguard the matter is under investigation.

Nigerian Army Sacks 1,000 Soldiers For Disobeying Orders During Onslaughts Against Boko Haram

One thousand soldiers were yesterday [May 25] dismissed by the Nigerian Army authorities for allegedly disobeying orders during onslaughts against Boko Haram militants in the North-East, Daily Trust gathered yesterday.

It was gathered that the soldiers were dismissed in Kaduna, Niger, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa and Sokoto States. They were among the 4,500 soldiers pencilled down by the authorities following the hiccup in the army last year in operations against the militants.

We’re Set To Declare Modu Sheriff Wanted – EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday [May 25] said former governor of Borno state Ali-Modu Sheriff may be declared wanted for refusing to honour an invitation by the anti- graft agency.

The spokesperson of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren said since Sheriff has failed to appear before the commission to explain allegations of financial crimes, he may be declared wanted as is the usual practice of the EFCC.
