2012 HAJJ: Saudi Ignores Nigeria Govt Ultimatum, Deports Another 510 Nigerians, Blocks Nigerian Envoy From Detained Pilgrims

Saudi authorities yesterday [Sept 27] denied Nigeria’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Bunu and other consular officials, access to the detained Nigerian female pilgrims at the King Abdulazeez International Airport, Jeddah, a source at the Nigerian Embassy in Riyadh told Daily Trust last night.

The source who spoke to Daily Trust’s correspondent on phone said that the envoy, in company of six other staffs of the embassy including his Consul General Ambassador Ahmad Umar Yakasai, was at the airport for more than 50 minutes pleading with the Saudi authorities to allow him meet with the pilgrims to no avail.

Leader of the UK Labour Party Ed Miliband is not only backing same-sex marriage, but saying gay couples should marry in churches.

In a video for campiagn Out4Marriage, Miliband says his party provides its ‘whole-hearted support’ for the campaign and he intends to push the government to ‘get on with’ legislating for equal marriage.

He said: ‘I think whether you’re gay or straight, you should be able to signify your commitment and your love with the term marriage’.

Church leaders have opposed government proposals to allow same-sex couples to marry, claiming it will ‘undermine the meaning of marriage’.

LISTEN: New Whitney Houston & R.Kelly Duet Of “I Look To You”


 Whitney Houston’s legacy is being honoured with a newly-released duet with R. Kelly. The song is a new version of “I Look to You”, the title track of her 2009 album, which R.Kelly wrote for Houston and performed at her funeral earlier this year.

Clive Davis, Sony Music’s chief creative officer and Houston’s longtime mentor, says the previously unused vocal tracks were “made at an unscheduled recording session while she was working on her final album”. She had stopped smoking for two weeks while getting dental work done in Los Angeles, and the effect on her voice was “striking”.

Police Corporal To Die By Hanging For Killing 3-Yr Old Girl…Three Years Ago In Lagos

35-year old Police Corporal, Okechukwu Nwabueze, has sentenced to death by an Ikeja High Court for killing a three-year old girl, Kaosara Muritala three years ago in Lagos.

Okechukwu was alleged to have shot and killed the girl on 5 April, 2009 at a police check point located at Obanle-Aro near Mr. Biggs in Alapere, Ketu.

Three witnesses including the deceased father, a police officer and Professor John Obafunwa, a pathologist testified against the accused person.

2012 HAJJ EXERCISE: Kano Suspends Airlifting Of Pilgrims…117 Deportees Narrate Ordeal In Tears

The Kano State Pilgrim Welfare Board says it has suspended further airlifting of intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia following the deportation of 171 female pilgrims to the country for failing to travel with approved male guardians for the ongoing hajj exercise.

The deportees arrived Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, yesterday [Sept. 26], onboard a Max Air plane which touched down at about 4:55pm. About 111 of the intending pilgrims were from Katsina while the 60 others were from Taraba state.

According to her husband, Mr. Oluwafemi Odunaya, the 33-year-old mother of two was last seen on Saturday [Sept 22, when he left Adebusola at home. Oluwafemi said when he returned home, his children told him that Adebusola had gone for shopping.

When she did not return late in the evening, he said he became disturbed more so when her phone indicated it was switched off.

CYNTHIA OSOKOGU’S MURDER: Three More Suspects Appear In Court…Court Grants Two Bail, Remands Driver

Three more persons yesterday [Sept. 26] appeared before a Yaba Magistrate’s Court for the alleged murder of Cynthia Osokogu, bringing to seven the total number of those so far charged with her murder.

They are Gideon Okechukwu (39), Nonso Ifechukwu (22) and Emeka Chinonso (27). Before them, the quartet of Okwuno Echezoma Nwafo (33), Ejike Ifechukwu Olisaeloka (23) and Maduakor Chukwunonso (25) were charged. Okechukwu was alleged to have conspired with Nwafo and Olisaeloka to kill Cynthia; Ifechukwu and Chinonso were said to have received her stolen phone from Olisaeloka.

The Nigerian government has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to Saudi authorities to resolve the issues surrounding detained Nigerian female pilgrims in that country.

The government said Wednesday [Sept. 26] it expected Saudi Arabia authorities to act fast and set the Nigerian women free to perform the hajj, according to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria.

Mother Weeps In Court As Son Pleaded Guilty To Theft…In Kaduna State

There was drama in court Wednesday [Sept 26] when Mrs. Rafkatu Adamu of Kafana Area in Kafanchan, Kaduna State wept as her son, Joefrey Adamu, 26, pleaded guilty to theft.

The accused was docked for alleged theft of iron rods belonging to the Nigeria Railway Corporation in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

Adamu who pleaded guilty to the charge told the court that he committed the offence because he needed money to feed himself.

He begged the court for leniency, adding, “I have never stolen in my life”.

American man, Colby Ellis, 22, showed just how much of a daredevil he is, when he climbed mountain timbers in North Carolina. Unfortunately, Colby’s task did not end successfully or safely.

At about 5 feet up, Colby claims one of the vines he grappled gave way, causing him to slip, News 24 reported. As he positioned himself to embrace the fall, Colby’s face went directly into a branch, puncturing skin directly under his left eyebrow and part of his eyeball.

Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina was involved in a scary car accident in Georgia -- DESTROYING the entire front end of the vehicle -- and TMZ has a photo of the damage.

The black 2012 Camaro belongs to Bobbi's boyfriend Nick Gordon -- and according to sources close to Bobbi, Nick was driving Sunday [Sept. 23] night in Alpharetta, GA ... with Bobbi in the passenger seat ... when the accident happened.

The details surrounding the accident are unclear, but we're told the couple had been arguing at the time of the crash -- and Nick's Camaro was the only car involved. No one was injured.

After the accident, the car was missing the front right tire, the front bumper was torn off, and the airbags were deployed -- but somehow it got back to Bobbi and Nick's apartment.

Cops went to the apartment soon after the accident for a noise complaint, but no one answered the door.

According to the incident report, officers saw the car parked outside the apartment with its hazard lights on -- and it appeared it had been driven in a damaged state.

We're told the accident is currently under investigation. Calls to Bobbi's people were not returned.

Arik Air Bans FAAN MD, Omojuwa Japhet, 25 Others From Its Flights…Permanently Blacklisted


Embattled airline, Arik Air Tuesday  permanently blacklisted 27 persons from boarding any of its flights at any point in Nigeria.

A document obtained by Blueprint in Lagos yesterday  [Sept. 25] entitled ‘List of passengers blacklisted on all Arik Air Flights’ showed the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr. George Uriesi, as the first person on the list.

Although his offence was not stated, it is believed that he made the list because of the recent disruption of the airline’s operations by unions in the aviation industry made up mostly of FAAN personnel.

Europe's biggest chilli cheese hotdog is over a metre long and contains roughly 13,000 calories - enough to feed a man for a week.

The meaty feast is filled with 1.5kilos of beef sausage and packs a spicy punch with a whole pound of homemade chilli inside.

Cooks from Smokey's Joint in Walsall created the meal - named the Monster Dog - after their 3lb Monster Burger went down a storm with hungry customers.

Saudi Arabia Detains 400 Nigerian Female Hajj Pilgrims…Threatened To Deport The Pilgrims To Nigeria

Four hundred female pilgrims from Nigeria, who arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Sunday [Sept. 23] for this year’s hajj, have been separated from their male counterparts and detained by Saudi authorities.

Local media report that the Saudis requested each female pilgrim to provide her muharram – the approved male companion accompanying her on her trip, usually a husband, father or brother – those that couldn’t produce any, were detained.

 Two United States Marines have been charged with urinating on the dead bodies of Taliban fighters after videotaping the inhumane act.

According to the United States Marine Core (USMC), the Marines -- Staff Sergeants Joseph W. Chamblin and Edward W. Deptola -- have been charged for "violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice" for their involvement in the urination incident.

AN eight-month-old pregnant woman, Mrs. Grace Nwangwu, was weekend, killed in Ikwo LGA of Ebonyi State while she was reportedly trying to steal some food crops in a farm near her house at midnight.

The woman was alleged to be sleeping on the same bed with her husband, Mgbebu till midnight when she left to ease herself outside but reportedly went to farm at Igbudu Community to harvest some food crops and was killed by her attacker.

Nigerian Mint Worker Arrested For Selling Fake Currency - N.9m

An employee of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company, Osakpolo Igbinosa, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly trading in fake currency.

The father of three said the fake money was among those that were yet to reach the final stage of printing by the NSPMC. The suspect, a material security officer, said he had been perpetrating the criminal act since 2010 until he was recently arrested by the police in Ikorodu.
