The Police Special Fraud Unit, SFU, has arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly operating an internet fraud syndicate that specializes in defrauding unsuspecting wealthy foreign women who are in dire need of husbands.
Henry Ogu, and his accomplice, Yunusa Okonkwo, 42, were arrested after defrauding a New Jersey lady of US$350,000 (about N56 million) via an internet dating site.

The suspected kidnappers were accused of abducting a young woman who was shouting to be freed inside their vehicle. A witness, Mr. Ade Sunday, told PMNews that the suspects struggled to keep their victim inside the car but she fought vigorously for her life and was pushed out of the vehicle.

A hostage negotiator in direct contact with the kidnappers of more than 200 schoolgirls in Nigeria tells Channel 4 News their safe release is "within reach", but that their fate rests on a knife-edge.
"The girls, we believe, are alive but they have been moved from the location to which they were originally taken”, the intermediary told Channel 4 News. "It would not be hard to engineer a deal. It looks like they want to release them”.

The pregnant woman who lost her baby after being shot in the belly allegedly brought the drama to the shooter’s doorstep!
According to NY Daily News:
A Florida woman is in jail after allegedly shooting her pregnant friend in the stomach and killing the unborn baby – but the suspect's eldest sister says it's far more complicated than it appears.
Katrice Wyche, 42, claims her sister Virginia, 35, acted in self-defense April 23 when she pulled the trigger. Wyche alleges the pregnant woman, Markeisha Brooks, 23, showed up at her Jacksonville home with a group of people to jump her.
"She had three other people with her to guarantee that my sister got beat up, but it did not work out like that," Katrice Wyche told the Daily News on Tuesday. "The girl slapped my sister! When she went to hit her again, that's when my sister shot her."

Wyche, a former police officer, was raised in Jacksonville but lives in Pasadena, Texas. She reached out to her sister after learning about the arrest for attempted murder from reading The News last week.
"She said, 'Katrice, I don't understand why I'm in here.' My sister's bond should not be $1 million. It was clearly self-defense," she said. "I want my sister out of jail”. Wyche is on her way to Florida to file a complaint with the state attorney’s office demanding that warrants be issued for the people she says went to her sister's house.

"My sister was like, 'I'm in my house, get off my property’," Wyche said. She also wants Brooks to be held accountable for knowingly putting her unborn child into jeopardy by allegedly instigating the fight.
The incident stemmed from an argument over the Facebook the previous evening. Neighbors were reportedly shocked to discover that Virginia Wyche – an otherwise peaceful woman – was charged with such a gruesome crime. Brooks was taken to a hospital following the incident and her condition is unknown.

A 14-year-old girl shot and killed another 14-year-old girl because of an argument over a boy, Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said yesterday [Apr. 29] as murder charges were filed.
The gun used to kill Endia Martin had been stolen from a car on April 13, McCarthy said, adding that two other people, including a 24-year-old uncle of the suspect, face charges as police investigate how the girl got the gun.

Lawal Olaniyi Babafemi, 33, appearing before a federal judge in Brooklyn, New York, pleaded guilty to providing material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization. The plea came ahead of a July 14 trial date and followed a Nigerian court’s decision in August to grant a U.S. request for Babafemi’s extradition.

Another suspected terrorist Islamic sect with link to the Boko Haram sect has been uncovered in Bida, Niger State. The state government has set up a two-man committee with the mandate to identify the sect members and flush them out of the state.

Eden Hazard has been rewarded for his fine season at Chelsea by scooping the Young Player of the Year award.
The Belgium international, absent for Chelsea's 2-0 victory over Liverpool on Sunday due to injury, has been in blistering form for the Blues this term and came out on top ahead of Liverpool pair Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge, Everton's Ross Barkley, Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey and Southampton left back Luke Shaw.

After winning the award, Hazard said: 'It's always good to win awards because it means you've had a good season, but I prefer to win things collectively and I must say thank you to all my Chelsea team-mates, the staff and the fans.'

Hazard, who joined the club from Lille in a £32million deal in 2012, has scored 17 goals in 48 appearances for the Blues this term.

The Federal Government has given the armed forces and other security agencies the nod to embark on mass recruitment. It was gathered in Abuja on Sunday that the directive was to give fillip to the war against terrorism in the country.
