Five children have died in a house fire in northern France. The blaze in Saint-Quentin, about 130km (80 miles) north-east of Paris, was probably accidental, reports say.
The children's father was present but escaped with serious burns, local officials said.

Calabar Mistress Burns Maid’s Buttocks With Hot Iron For Being “Promiscuous”
A 14-year-old house maid, Otobong Edet John, had her buttocks seared with hot electric iron by her mistress, simply identified as Ekaette, on the suspicion that she was promiscuous.
Narrating her ordeal, Otobong said she was receiving a call on her phone when the madam operating a canteen asked her who was on the phone and she said it was one of her friends. “But madam did not believe me and started beating me. So I ran and stayed somewhere with my friend”, she stated.

Pakistani Girl Shot By The Taliban, Malala Yousafzai Sells Her Life Story In A Deal Worth £2million
The life story of a 15-year Pakistani girl who was shot by the Taliban will be published later this year, in a deal reported to be worth around £2m.
"I am Malala" will be published in the autumn and will tell the story of Malala Yousafzai, who was shot by Taliban gunmen after she became an advocate for woman's education in the Swat Valley. She now attends a school in Birmingham.

An Ado Ekiti High Court has sentenced two policemen to death by hanging for their roles in the killing of two members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over allegation of the defacement of posters of political opponents in Omuo Ekiti about two years ago.
Fracas broke out between the PDP and Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, on March 23, 2011 at Kota Junction in Omuo Ekiti over alleged defacement of posters belonging to PDP aspirants in the community, a development that prompted police to be drafted to the scene of the incident which subsequently led to the death of two PDP members.
