Bloody Christmas In Borno As Boko Haram Kills 14, Burns Entire Village
At least 14 people were killed and several others injured by Boko Haram gunmen in a Christmas Day attack on a village in northeastern Nigeria, vigilantes said Saturday [Dec. 26]. Attacking astride bicycles, the jihadists invaded Kimba village in flashpoint Borno state around 10:00 pm on Friday, opening fire on residents and torching their homes.

The Federal Government has announced the scrapping of oil subsidy and a reduction of the pump price of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to N85 per litre from January 1, 2016. Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, broke the news to journalists in the Port Harcourt Refinery Company (PHRC), where he spent Christmas inspecting the plant.

Pregnant Mother Died While Five Months Pregnant After Taking Heroin At Party

A mother died at a party where she injected herself despite being five months pregnant. Joanne Martin and the unborn baby boy both died after she suffered cardiac arrest while drinking with friends.
An inquest heard relatives of the 34-year-old from Southsea, Porstmouth, did not know about her drug habit.

A member of a robbery gang was shot dead Tuesday, while his colleagues sustained various gunshot injuries along Ijebu-Ode/Benin Expressway, police said. The Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed this to journalists on Wednesday, said the bandits were operating along the expressway when nemesis caught up with them.

Singer Who Raped 14-Year-Old Girl Is Pardoned and Made Zambia's 'Ambassador Against Violence Towards Women'

Zambia has provoked uproar after pardoning a singer convicted of rape – then appointing him ambassador against violence towards women. Clifford Dimba, known as General Kanene, was sentenced to 18 years in prison last year for attacking a 14-year-old girl.
But he was pardoned by President Edgar Lungu after serving just one year of his sentence. He has now been trusted with the highly sensitive position of tackling gender-based attacks despite reportedly being involved in two incidents of violence against women since being released.

Guard Docked Over Theft Of 160 Chicken
A 27-year-old man has been arraigned before an Abuja Grade 1 Area Court for allegedly abandoning a poultry farm, an action that led to the theft of 160 chicken valued at N240,000.
Nasiru Ibrahim of Arab Road, Kubwa, was charged with negligence, an offence that contradicts Section 196 of the Penal Code.
