The court of Appeal in Makurdi has nullified the election of Senator David Mark and ordered fresh elections in 90 days. 

The Makurdi division of the Court of Appeal on Saturday [Nov. 28], ordered a re-run of the poll within 90 days.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Benue South, Mr Donald Onjeh had challenged the decision of the National and State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal, which upheld the victory of Senator Mark of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The incident which occurred by 2.00pm was said to have affected mostly women and children.

44 Million Nigerians At Risk Of Schistosomiasis, Say Experts

It has emerged that about 44 million Nigerians across 34 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are at risk and indeed need treatment for the schistosomiasis disease.

The disease also known as bilharzia, according to health experts, is caused by flatworms and spread through stagnant water, adding that it affects an estimated 249 million people around the world, 90% of them in sub Sahara Africa.

3 Nigerian Banks Fail CAR Test, Get June 2016 Recapitalisation Deadline

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has given three commercial banks until June 2016 to recapitalise after they failed to hit a minimum capital adequacy ratio of 10 per cent. 

According to a Reuters report which quoted the apex bank at the weekend, the three banks were not named but they were said to be among the group of 14 in Nigeria that have licenses to operate as regional and national lenders, with respective capital bases of N10 billion ($50 million) and N25 billion.

The military has surrounded the Radisson Blu Hotel in the Mali capital during the ongoing hostage situation where a reported 9 people have died. 
At least 10 attackers armed with guns and grenades have stormed a luxury hotel in Mali and taken 170 people hostage, it is reported.

Gunmen apparently used a vehicle to smash through security barriers at the US-owned Radisson Blu hotel in the capital Bamako at about 7am, according to local reports. The men shouted "Allahu Akbar" or "God is great" in Arabic before firing on the guards and taking hostages, Malian army commander Modibo Nama Traore said.

Underfed 7-Year-Old Girl Slumps In School In Lagos

Doctors at a private hospital at Ire-Akari Estate in Isolo area of Lagos State are battling to save the life of a malnourished seven-year-old primary school pupil, who slumped and lost consciousness in school.

The victim, identified as Ifechukwu Jubilee, also had visible marks of violence all over her body. She was reportedly sent to school last Friday by her guardian, identified as Ngozi, on an empty stomach. Her guardian, according to neighbours at their 19 Owofuju Street, allegedly beat the girl, her niece, at the slightest provocation.

Isobel Bowdery, from Cape Town, South Africa, who reports she was at the Bataclan during the assault, details her struggle to remain alive while the shooting was going on around her.

She believed (like many in the venue) that the attack on the Bataclan was actually part of the show when it first began. She posted her story, as well as a photo of her bloody shirt, to Facebook to let others know of her tragic experience as well as to highlight those who helped her and others during the atrocities that occurred.

Surprises As Ebonyi State Governor Retires All Permanent Secretaries Except One

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State has ordered the immediate retirement of all permanent secretaries in the state’s civil service.

This was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s Principal Secretary, Chief Clement Nweke, and made available to the media on Sunday in Abakaliki, the state capital.

Sex Workers Flee As 'Customer' Died During Marathon Sex In Osun State
Virtually all the brothels located in Osogbo, Osun State, were deserted on Sunday [Nov. 15] following the death of a man who patronised one of the prostitutes at a popular hotel known as Morak, Tribune Online reports. The development, which caused apprehension, forced most of the prostitutes in other brothels to take to their heels.

ISIS Mentions Nigeria In Paris Attacks

The Islamic State yesterday mentioned Nigeria in a statement it issued, claiming responsibility for coordinated attacks in different parts of Paris by assailants numbering eight, which resulted in the death of 129 people, and left at least 352 injured.

Boko Haram Spends N2billion Yearly…As Senegal Arrests 2 Suspected Female Boko Haram With N164 Million Cash

Amid United Nations’ reports that the annual budget of extremist Boko Haram could be as high as $10million (about N2billion), Senegalese authorities have arrested two suspected Boko Haram female members with 500 million CFA (about N164 million) cash.

Deputy Director of Assessment and Technical Assistance for the UN Counter-terrorism Committee, Hassan Baage, told a gathering of West African Security experts in Dakar, Senegal, that the extremist sect’s annual budget was believed to be up to $10 million.
