The Makurdi division of the Court of Appeal on Saturday [Nov. 28], ordered a re-run of the poll within 90 days.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Benue South, Mr Donald Onjeh had challenged the decision of the National and State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal, which upheld the victory of Senator Mark of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress from Kogi East Senatorial District have adopted the late Abubakar Audu’s son, Mohammed, as the district’s sole candidate for fresh governorship primaries in the state. Audu had died on Sunday, a day after Saturday’s governorship election, which was declared inconclusive by the Returning Officer of the election, Prof. Emmanuel Kucha.

3 Nigerian Banks Fail CAR Test, Get June 2016 Recapitalisation Deadline

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has given three commercial banks until June 2016 to recapitalise after they failed to hit a minimum capital adequacy ratio of 10 per cent. 

According to a Reuters report which quoted the apex bank at the weekend, the three banks were not named but they were said to be among the group of 14 in Nigeria that have licenses to operate as regional and national lenders, with respective capital bases of N10 billion ($50 million) and N25 billion.

Gunmen attacked Radisson Blu, a luxury hotel in Mali's capital Bamako early on Friday and seized about 170 hostages, a senior source with the security forces and witnesses said.

Special forces have stormed Radisson Blu building and some hostages have been freed. Mali state TV ORTM show freed hostages leaving Radisson in Bamako.

Gunmen throwing grenades attacked Radisson Blu, a luxury hotel in Mali's capital Bamako early on Friday and seized about 170 hostages, a senior source with the security forces and witnesses said.

A Malian army commander told The Associated Press about 20 hostages have been released from Hotel. Military commander Modibo Naman Traore told The Associated Press that about 20 hostages were freed later in the morning.

At least 10 attackers armed with guns and grenades have stormed a luxury hotel in Mali and taken 170 people hostage, it is reported.

Gunmen apparently used a vehicle to smash through security barriers at the US-owned Radisson Blu hotel in the capital Bamako at about 7am, according to local reports. The men shouted "Allahu Akbar" or "God is great" in Arabic before firing on the guards and taking hostages, Malian army commander Modibo Nama Traore said.

Doctors at a private hospital at Ire-Akari Estate in Isolo area of Lagos State are battling to save the life of a malnourished seven-year-old primary school pupil, who slumped and lost consciousness in school.

The victim, identified as Ifechukwu Jubilee, also had visible marks of violence all over her body. She was reportedly sent to school last Friday by her guardian, identified as Ngozi, on an empty stomach. Her guardian, according to neighbours at their 19 Owofuju Street, allegedly beat the girl, her niece, at the slightest provocation.

Amid United Nations’ reports that the annual budget of extremist Boko Haram could be as high as $10million (about N2billion), Senegalese authorities have arrested two suspected Boko Haram female members with 500 million CFA (about N164 million) cash.

Deputy Director of Assessment and Technical Assistance for the UN Counter-terrorism Committee, Hassan Baage, told a gathering of West African Security experts in Dakar, Senegal, that the extremist sect’s annual budget was believed to be up to $10 million.
