Egyptian security forces have heard voices inside the wrecked fuselage of a Russian passenger jet which crashed into the Sinai desert in northern Egypt as the bodies of 100 victims have been recovered. The aircraft, which had 200 adult passengers, 17 children and seven crew crashed less than 25 minutes after it took off from the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh. The bodies of all 17 children on board have been recovered.

A Russian civilian aircraft crashed after it went missing in Egypt's Sinai region on Saturday. There were said to be 217 passengers on board when Egypt's air traffic control lost contact with the aircraft, according to Sky News Arabia. 

Egyptian prime minister Sherif Ismail has confirmed that the Russian plane has crashed, according to AFP.  The Russian airline Kogalymavia flight was on its way to Russia after taking off from Sharm el-Sheikh resort on the Red Sea. Most people on the plane were Russian tourists.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday [Oct. 27], dismissed the suit filed by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, challenging the jurisdiction of the Rivers governorship election petition tribunal to hear a petition by candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dakuku Peterside.
In his argument, Wike had argued that the tribunal sitting in Abuja had no jurisdiction over matters that transpired in the state, contending however, that the tribunal should have sat in Rivers State and not Abuja.

A 13-year-old girl has allegedly decapitated a boy, 5, as a form of revenge after claiming his father raped her. The teenager, who is from a village in India’s northern Uttar Pradesh state, claims she was assaulted earlier this month.

Police say she kidnapped the five-year-old boy while he was playing before committing the murder. The boy’s body was allegedly found, burnt and wrapped in a polythene bag, when dogs found it under some bricks.

51-Year-Old Teacher Sent To Prison Custody For Defiling 4 Pupils (Ages 5 To 9) In Ekiti State

According to Nigerian Tribune, a 51-year-old primary school teacher, Mathew Oluyede, was on Monday  [Oct 26] remanded in Ado-Ekiti Prisons, Ekiti State, for allegedly defiling four pupils. Oluyede, whose address is unknown, is facing a charge of defilement at an Ado Ekiti Magistrates’ Court.

The Magistrate, Taiwo Ajibade, who did not take the plea of the accused, said he should be kept in custody until the next date of adjournment. She said the case file should be duplicated and sent to the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

The police has charged one Akate Thomas, 42, before a Makurdi Magistrates’ Court, Benue State, for allegedly impregnating his 12-year-old daughter, Nigerian Tribune reports.

The prosecutor, Corporal Omaye Ujata, told the court that one Francis Omanga of Adi Etulo in the Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State reported the case at the ‘B’ Division Police Station in Makurdi. Ujata alleged that the accused had sexual intercourse with his two daughters, 12 and 10 years old.

He said the government would boost the operations of the marine police and Navy on the waterways. The governor said at least 220 roads were rehabilitated in the last four months. He pleaded with Lagosians to support him to take Lagos to develop the state further.

Two neighbouring towns, Oye and Ilupeju Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State are now embroiled in serious communal clash over a long-drawn land dispute, leading to several sustaining high degree of injuries.

The crisis, which had been looming Saturday snowballed into a serious clash as the youths of the two communities were said to have used dangerous weapons with some casualties reportedly taken to the hospital.

The crisis, which paralysed commercial activities in the two communities, had also heightened tension as of press time.

The Nigerian caught in Australia, in an undercover sting that uncovered roughly $10 million worth of methamphetamine hidden inside a Chinese fish statue has been identified. He is Jackson Igwebuike, a former University of Benin graduate. The 32 year-old Nigerian was charged to a Canberra court on Monday. Reports by Sydney Morning Herald said he made no attempt for release on bail and entered no plea. His case has been adjourned.
