A roadside bomb explosion caused planted by members of Boko Haram insurgents reportedly killed 35 persons on Thursday [Nov. 27] morning at Maraban Mubi area of Adamawa state.
An eyewitness account says the bomb was planted by the insurgents to kill the local hunters and military personnel who were detailed to fortify Mubi town from further attacks of the insurgents.
He said the explosion was timed by the perpetrators and exploded as soon as the hunters and military personnel arrived the scene of the blast which resulted in the death of five military personnel and a local hunter at the spot.
According to the eyewitness, the scene of the blast was a busy area where people returning to the area after the recapture of Mubi gather to do business.
A resident of the affected area, Mallam Usman, said the explosive might have been planted by members of the Boko Haram on the evening of Wednesday, adding that the perpetrators knew that the scene of the blast was where the soldiers and the hunters unusually gathered in the morning to strategise on their next point of action.
According to him, the military has also converted the venue of the blast to a check point, since there are many people at the spot most of the times.
